We are the UK arm of WOOD & Company Financial Services, a.s., a leading investment bank, headquartered in Prague, Czechia, focused on the Emerging Markets of Europe & the Frontier Markets of Europe and Central Asia (our “core markets”).


Advising on investments

  • To corporates and significant shareholders on capital raisings
    We provide expert guidance to corporations and major shareholders to help them successfully navigate capital raising efforts., including advising on IPOs and secondary market transcations such as ABBs. This includes strategic advice on equity and debt financing options, optimizing capital structure and identifying the most suitable investors to ensure the best outcomes for our clients.

  • To institutional investors on equities
    We offer comprehensive advisory services to institutional investors, assisting them in making informed decisions regarding equity investments. Our expertise includes market analysis, valuation assessments, and portfolio management strategies aimed at maximizing returns while managing risks.

Dealing in investments as an agent

The Firm acts as an agent broker utilising WOOD & Company Financial Services, a.s. (its „Sister Company“) in relation to equities transactions in  our core markets with its professional clients and eligible counterparties. The Firm’s agreements with its clients clearly reference the fact that any order will be processed by the Sister Company, which maintains a specialist trading desk and all necessary operations departments and equipment in Prague.

Production of investment research and provision of corporate access services

The Firm provides independent investment research services as well as facilitating corporate access services. The Firm’s research focus is on equities in our core markets as well as the Middle East.<br> The investment research team is separate and independent of other members of the Firm and appropriate Chinese walls, both tangible and non, have been established. When producing investment research, the Firm abides at all times with COBS 12 rules.

Arranging transactions in and placing of financial instruments (without a firm commitment basis)

The Firm is engaged in marketing and seeking investors with regards to the sale of exisiting and new securities in transactions in the its Core Markets. The Firm will not be undertaking, at any time, the regulated activity of underwriting financial instruments on a firm commitment basis.

  • Nicholas (Nick) Mark Kaufmann

    Managing Director - Head of Equity Capital Markets & Syndicate and Head of the London Office

    Nick has over 20 years of experience in Investment Banking in London. He was previously Head of Emerging Markets Equity Capital Markets for Citigroup, Schroders and UniCredit CA IB. During his time in each of these positions, he helped to build the companies into leading CEE ECM franchises.

    Nick played an integral role in pioneering transactions in the development of the Emerging European equity capital markets and is an expert in the structuring of regional equity deals. Before joining WOOD & Co., he spent the prior five years acting as a Managing Partner and shareholder of Q-Advisers (a merchant banking boutique focused on Germany, Austria and Emerging Europe).

    Nick began his career in Her Majesty’s Treasury, the UK Finance and Economics Ministry.

    Nick has been Managing Director, Head of Equity Capital Markets & Syndicate with WOOD & CO. since February 2016 and was appointed Head of the London Office in April 2021. He possesses in-depth knowledge and skills developed throughout his career across investment banking.

  • Jonathan David Lamb

    Director - Oil & Gas Research Analyst

    Jonathan has been working as an oil and gas focused equity analyst for over 8 years in WOOD & Co., specialising in Emerging Europe. Prior to this, he accumulated approximately 20 years of experience in the Oil Sector, covering both retailing and refining, and accumulated a deep understanding of all aspects of the sector.

    Before joining WOOD & Co., Jonathan was an investor relations officer at Tupras, the Turkish oil refiner, with responsibility for managing the relationship between the company and its major shareholders, as well as supporting strategic planning and major financing activities.

    Jonathan started his career in 1995 and has developed strong investor relations, strategic planning and pricing skills through his various roles. He has many years of modelling experience, strong communication skills and a comprehensive understanding of the oil business.

  • Jaroslaw Maria Tomczynski

    Director - Co-Head of Equities, Sales

    Jaroslaw (Jarek) Tomczynski is a product specialist and manager with a proven track record in business development and over 20 years of experience at market leading institutions in equities brokerage, sales, capital raising, client acquisition and relationship management in a challenging client-facing role in a multinational environment.

    He has worked with top EMEA asset managers and hedge funds in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia as well as founders and top management of companies across the region. He participated in several hundred IPOs and block placement transactions with dedication to developing and delivering solutions for investors and a reputation for high personal integrity and professional ethics.

    He has held a position of trust for over 10 years now, first at UniCredit CAIB Securities, London, Emerging European Equities as a Managing Director and Deputy Head of Equities Sales, then at Credit Suisse, London, EEMEA Equity Sales Director and Acting Head of EMEA Equity Sales, then at Wood & Co. as a Deputy Head of Equities, Head of the UK Branch and MLRO in London office.
    Jarek is currently co-head of Equities at WOOD & Co.
